HCR 4141 HYDROCARBON BLEND REPLACES R-410A · R-32

The drop-in retrofit for R-410A air conditioning.

HCR 4141 is the AC workhorse of the Eco Kold line: a natural hydrocarbon blend engineered to match the pressure curve, temperature glide, and oil compatibility of R-410A. Recover, vacuum, charge with 65% less product, and the system runs cooler, quieter, and on up to 50% less power. Already installed across residential and commercial AC systems.

HCR 4141 vs R-410A

Same equipment. Same thermostat. A different climate footprint.

Side-by-side numbers for the exact same air-conditioning duty point. The GWP gap is the headline. The pressure and charge differences are why your equipment runs longer.

Where HCR 4141 fits

Built for the systems most of the world is already running on.

R-410A is the most-installed AC refrigerant of the last two decades. HCR 4141 is engineered as the cleanest path off it: retrofit-ready with minimal to no equipment changes, no retraining for the technician, no compromise on cooling. Hydrocarbon refrigerant (ASHRAE A3, flammable); install by a qualified technician.

Residential AC

Split systems · mini-splits · package units

Most home AC installed since ~2005 runs R-410A. HCR 4141 retrofits the existing condenser, evaporator, and lineset, with no parts replaced.

Commercial AC

Rooftop units · VRF · light commercial

Drop-in for commercial split, packaged, and VRF systems running R-410A or R-32. Tested across hospitals, retail, hospitality, and industrial-office applications.

Retrofit-first

Aging R-410A systems facing repair vs. replace

An R-410A system that needs a recharge is the perfect HCR 4141 candidate. Instead of buying time on a phase-down refrigerant, retrofit once and run on GWP <1 for the system's remaining life.

Installation

Three steps. Same equipment. One certified technician.

No specialty hardware. Retrofit-ready: minimal to no equipment changes. Hydrocarbon refrigerant (ASHRAE A3, flammable); install by a qualified technician. The retrofit takes a weekend on a typical commercial site.

01 · Recover

Recover the legacy refrigerant.

Pull the R-410A charge through a certified recovery machine into an approved reclaim cylinder. Never vent. EPA-licensed technicians only.

02 · Vacuum

Pull a deep vacuum.

Evacuate the system to 500 microns or lower. Hold the vacuum to verify no leaks. This step is identical to a standard refrigerant change-out.

03 · Charge

Charge with 65% less HCR 4141.

Weigh in 350 g of HCR 4141 for every 1,000 g of R-410A removed. Verify suction pressure at 75–80 PSI. Document the charge on the system label.

HCR 4141 · FAQ

Common questions about HCR 4141.

What does HCR 4141 replace?

HCR 4141 is the drop-in hydrocarbon refrigerant replacement for R-410A and R-32 in residential and commercial air-conditioning systems. It matches R-410A’s pressure curve so the existing condenser, evaporator, and expansion valve stay in place. The biggest install base in the Eco Kold line.

What is the GWP of HCR 4141?

HCR 4141 has a Global Warming Potential of <1. R-410A carries a GWP of 2,088; R-32, the so-called "low-GWP" HFC that R-410A is being replaced with in newer equipment, carries a GWP of 675. More on the GWP math.

Is HCR 4141 EPA SNAP listed for air-conditioning systems?

HCR 4141 has been submitted to the EPA SNAP program and is pending a final ruling; it is not yet listed. It is designed for the low-GWP transition; approved end-uses and availability vary by country.

Can I retrofit my R-410A AC without replacing the condenser or evaporator?

Yes. The compressor, condenser, evaporator, lineset, expansion valve, and oil all stay in place. The retrofit is a standard recovery, vacuum, and recharge sequence, executed by a certified hydrocarbon technician. A single-zone residential AC typically takes 3–5 hours.

What is the typical energy savings on an HCR 4141 retrofit?

Residential and commercial HCR 4141 retrofits typically deliver up to 50% reduction in cooling-cycle energy consumption. The reduction comes from a 65% lighter charge moving the same heat at lower system pressure (~78 PSI vs R-410A’s ~110 PSI suction). Per-site projections are included with every quote.
